Great way to kick-up and add a flavour to a bland tofu. It can be served as a side dish or a main dish over hot rice.
Ingredients
Tofu 400 g
Cooking Spray 5 ml
Sesame Oil 15 ml
Water Chestnuts (drained) 225 g
Fresh Shiitake Mushrooms (stems removed) 85 g
Snow Peas (trimmed) 145 g
Water 235 ml
Instructions
1. Slice tofu block into 3 long slabs lengthwise.
2. Wrap each slab in paper towels, and press to squeeze out excess water.
3. Coat a large skillet with cooking spray, and then add 2 teaspoons sesame oil.
4. Once the oil is hot, add the tofu slabs to the skillet. Fry for about 5 minutes on each side, or until delicately browned.
5. Remove tofu from skillet, and slice into cubes.
6. Add the remaining teaspoon sesame oil to the skillet, and stir fry the water chestnuts, mushrooms and snow peas. Put the tofu back to the skillet.
7. Cover, and cook over low heat for about 10 minutes
